Carstens' Bakery

Carstens' bakery was opened in 1968 by Willi and Shannon Carstens. Willi was born 1935 in northern Germany. At the age of 16 he began his training to become a master baker at the local bakery. In 1955 Willi finished his training at the age of 19 and imigated to Laramie, Wyoming on a sheep hearding sponsership. After a year of hearding sheep in 1956 Willi took a baking job in Idaho Falls, Idaho where he met his wife Shannon. From there they moved to Salt Lake City , Utah where Willi worked multiple jobs in order to save money for his own bakery. In 1968 Willi and Shannon returned to Shannons home town of Idaho Falls and opened their family's bakery. You can still find Willi working in the bakery daily along side his grandson Benjamin Borsik, who plans on eventually taking over the family business.
